It’s been a long, yet extremely enjoyable day that included this:
|Kel, Brit, and the Irwin Family|
…oh, and this too!
The Australia Zoo is amazing. Probably the best I’ve been to. You know how sometimes zoos can have a somewhat creepy and depressing vibe (almost pity for the animals)? This place was like animal paradise. I’ve never seen such enormous and luscious enclosures. Also, for such a huge tourist attraction, it has a remarkable “family-owned-and-operated” feel. I know there are a lot of anti-zoo activists out there, but having past experience working at a zoo as a student, I feel like I have a decent understanding for the excellent work and loving treatment that MOST provide to its animals. I can’t say enough good things about this Steve Irwin creation; we had a great day!
Lots of walking! Unfortunately, my pregnant ‘fog brain’ didn’t think to pack snacks, so we were forced to buy “Amusement Park Food”. Pretty much a fitness and food lover’s worst nightmare. I ordered a BLT, with expectations of receiving that trusty Canadian staple. WRONG. I should have taken a picture of the disgusting mess that came my way, but it went into the garbage quicker than you can say “cheese”.
|Emma & Tom’s: Thumbs up!|
This + banana = excellent snack! Although they don’t have nearly the same amount of flavours as Larabar, there are a few more that I will definitely try out soon.
All of the nasty park food today reminded me of a random article I saw over the summer on Fitbie regarding disgusting amusement park/fair foods. Can you imagine eating this?:
|Deep-Fried Butter on a Stick
|Luther Burger: Bacon Cheeseburger w/ 2 Krispy Kreme Glazed Donuts
I mean, these are total extremes, but I find it so remarkable that they are actually sold for human consumption! I get heart attack symptoms just looking at these photos. Gross. I just had to share this disgustingness with you, as it’s pretty entertaining as well! High fives for NOT exposing your body to this stuff!
Off to bed for this gal…dreams of koala cuteness await me!
