Milkshakes Are Sooo 1990

Today = attack of the milkshake cravings. What is wrong with me? Is this a pregnancy thing? I honestly don’t think I’ve had a milkshake since I was of single-digit age, nor have I ever wanted one!

So what’s a girl to do when a case of the unhealthys comes about? Deny myself from chocolatey goodness? No way! We all know that food denial never works; it always comes back to haunt you. I DO know better, though, than to down an empty-calorie chocolate milkshake (especially on a weekday). Healthy alternative time!
Chocolate Peanut-Butter Smoothie
aka: the Healthy Chocolate Milkshake
Ingredients:

  • Banana (1)
  • Organic/Natural Peanut Butter (1.5 tbsp)
  • Low Fat Chocolate Milk (1/3 cup)
  • Cottage Cheese (1 serving)
  • Chocolate mix (1/2 tsp)
  • Ice Cubes (4)
Instructions:
Blend, enjoy, and watch your milkshake craving disappear forever! I actually enjoyed this sooo much more than a milkshake (which has way too much sugar and fat for my liking).
By the way, I searched for awhile in the grocery store for a “chocolate drink powder” that was actually of nutritional value without any preservatives.  I found the Aussie brand Akta-Vite and although it was several $$ more than the rest of the products, its ingredients are free of GMO and any artificial stuff. When buying food with a long shelf life, be sure to check out the nutritional content. Paying a little bit more for quality is definitely worth it. I’m not sure if this brand sells in Canada or the States, but I’m sure there are very comparable items. Just check the labels!
Now: here’s a workout to compensate for a milkshake attack:
I like when abdominal workouts have a theme; makes it more exciting. I had positive feedback on my Lean Leg Pyramid workout in May, so thought that I would come up with a good core one.  Unfortunately, pregnancy doesn’t allow me to do much of this, but I’ll be doing a modified one at the gym tomorrow.

Well, I’m sore and hungry after my Body Pump workout today (which included planking) and looking forward to my second prenatal yoga class tonight. 
I’m off to work on an assignment while waiting for my very own pool boy (well…more like 50 year old man) to return to fix the filter so we can actually use it now that the temperatures are getting warmer here in Brisbane! Have a great Tuesday :)
