Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

I have the rainy day blueeees.

It’s okay, though. The weather here has been so wonderful that I’m perfectly content with a little bit of rain every so often. Being from Canada, the country where you can experience 10 weather systems in 1 day, rain makes things feel ‘normal’ here in Australia. As a side note, I would also like a pair of these Burberry rain boots, please & thanks.
On a dark and drizzly day, it cheers me up to have been given a Sunshine Award from a fellow Brisbane blogger, Bek, over at Crave. Her blog covers many of the same topics as Femme Fitale; she’s a fitness instructor and currently working on her education degree, so we definitely have lots in common. Thanks, lady!
I believe the premise of a Sunshine Award is to link bloggers together who positively impact readers and make a difference, small or large, in the life of someone else.
Rules of the award:
1) Share the name and blog link of the nominator.
2) Answer 10 questions about yourself.
3) Nominate 10 other bloggers.
Alright, so Q & A time. I used a combination of ones from Bek’s page as well as another Sunshine Award list:
  1. Who is your favourite philosopher?  People tend to think of the old farts like Aristotle, Plato, or 20th century Chomsky. I really appreciate present day philosophers like Ekhart Tolle. My dad introduced me to his writing and work many years ago.  Living in the NOW and the concept of present mindedness are part of his foundation, things which I definitely struggle with sometimes! Tolle has stated that “the primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it“. I try to remember this when the going gets tough.
  2. Where would you most like to travel to?  Australia was always #1 on my list, and now it’s where I call home. While living here, I hope to see parts of southeast Asia and New Zealand. I would love to do a Mediterranean cruise (on a small boat). I would also like to someday do relief work in Africa.  Then I will head over to the UK, France, Germany and Switzerland… want me to keep going?
  3. Who would you most like to meet who is still living? My doppelgänger. Wherever she is.
  4. Who would you most like to meet who has passed away? 3 of 4 grandparents who I never got to meet/know.
  5. What do you think is the hardest thing to do? NOT worry and stress about things that are essentially out of my control.
  6. What is your favourite animal?  This little bucket of love. I miss my Macy girl so very much!
  7. What is your favourite charity?  Those that support cancer research, particularly breast/ovarian/testicular.  Free the Children is also an amazing organization.
  8. What is your favourite time of day? When I’ve had a good sleep, I really enjoy early mornings.  I like that feeling of peacefulness when the sun is rising, a full day ahead of me to look forward to.
  9. What ambition do you still have? Someday once we are routed, I would like to own and run my own fitness studio. There are many other things on my ‘ambition list’, but those aren’t up for public discussion just yet :)
  10. Your favourite flower? Hydrangeas, Hibiscus, and Plumeria.
10 Blogs That I Follow: My Sunshine Award Recipients
These bloggers are all pretty ‘big time’, and my go-to reads.  They are all so ambitious and passionate about their specific realms; following their blogs inspired me to begin my own creative space here on the web. They encourage their readers, give us ideas for dinner, and influence our wardrobe selections. Thanks to these ladies for their continuous contributions to the blogging world.

You probably know some of them already:

Well, I’m looking forward to this rainy afternoon of tea, studying, and a necessary cat nap :)
I’ll be back tomorrow to post Circuit B of The Total Body Shape Up workout plan!
