A Few 2012 Faves

I can hardly believe that it’s the last day of 2012! This year has flown by so quickly. I thought I’d compile a list of my 2012 Favourites (Beauty Products and Fitness/Fashion Apparel).

Make Up

I don’t really wear a lot of make up (lately I’ve been actually pretty makeup-less)! However, I found Tarte back in May and fell in love with a lot of their products. I had been searching for makeup that wasn’t so synthetic in nature, and this line is the best! There are no parabens, phthalates, or synthetic fragrances, something which is important to me and I’ve been trying to avoid. Plus, the packaging is so much cuter than other more natural products out there (because that’s obviously super important, right?!)

I also still love Bare Escentuals and couldn’t leave it off the list. It’s a line that’s been in my make up bag for several years now. I’ve tried other mineral makeups here and there, but always come back to it.

Skin Care

I was definitely not blessed with the greatest skin. I used to struggle a lot with my complexion, but I found a routine this year that finally worked for me!

Bare Minerals Advanced Protection SPF 20 Moisturizer

Nighttime Cleanser

This one has been a looooong time coming. I sometimes feel like I could be a spokesperson for skin cleansers, as I’ve tried them all. This is the first time I’ve seen really great results and have stuck with one for more than 6 months! Plus, Boscia is preservative free as well, so it’s not harsh on my skin like so many others I’ve tried in the past.

Purifying Cleansing Gel

Toner

Found this one at the drug store! It’s relatively inexpensive and isn’t harsh at all. I haven’t seen it in Australia yet, but luckily I brought two extras from Canada. The bottles last awhile, too!

CoQ10 Repair Perfecting Facial Toner

Night Cream

This stuff is pricy (and even more so in Australia), but I don’t care! Skin cream one of those things that I am willing to spend more money on if it does the job. One bottle of this L’Occitane cream lasted me almost 6 months. I love this stuff! It’s not necessarily for nighttime use only, but that’s when I prefer it.

Immortelle Brightening Cream

Fragrance

I rotate between a few different scents (Chanel, Chloë, and Marc Jacobs), but this one took the cake in 2012! I actually received it last Christmas and it was a favourite all year, and surely will be for some time.

Victor & Rolf Flower Bomb

Running Shoe

Back in April, I found these Asics running shoes and haven’t turned back since!

You can read my blog post about it here!

Workout Wear

As always, Lululemon is my go-to for all workout apparel. Like every year, their cropped black pants were a closet staple- wearing a pair as I type this! You also can never go wrong with the Racerback style tank top (they’re long and stay in place throughout your workout).

Swiftly Tech Racerback

I found these Speed Shorts this year and now have 3 pairs! They’re great for running (or any other cardio for that matter), and even have a little zipper in the back for storing your house key.

Fashion Trends

There were so many, but to be honest, I didn’t like a lot of the trendy items this year (e.g.: wedge sneakers, floral print pants, leather sleeved jackets, peplum…). Not much was up my alley. Here are a couple that I did enjoy; all have been around for a few years now, but definitely gained momentum in 2012:

Neon! From workout gear to satchel bags, it has been fun this year.

Of course, there were many other favourites throughout the year: music, movies, food, etc. I could go on for awhile, but will leave you with those.

Wishing you all a very happy New Year’s Eve!

2 Thoughts on “A Few 2012 Faves

  1. I absolutely love Bare Minerals products. I haven't tried the moisturizer yet, just wondering if it works well for combination skin?

  2. I would say that I have combination skin, and it has worked so well for me! It's not heavy, nor does it make you shiny. Plus, I like that it already has SPF 20 :)
