Finally On The Mend

Ohhh, hi! I’ve been down and out this week with a bout of the flu/head cold. Not fun. At least it held off until after I’d completed my Body Attack instructor training. I thought I should make a little appearance so the blog just doesn’t sit here in limbo. Plus, I know how badly you are dying to see the adventurous week I’ve had. NOT! (Umm…can we please bring back that 90’s expression?)

Lemon water: all day, everyday.

Pomegranate green tea, throat lozenges, and chocolate. Because they all make me feel better in their own, special way.

A litre of Nudie 100% orange juice and two boxes of Kleenex (and counting).

Chasing around an 8-month old who is everywhere and into everything. He literally went from doing an army/worm crawl to motoring on all 4s at lightening speed overnight. Favourite activity: finding every possible wire or cord we thought was safe. I can’t sit for more than 2 minutes, but I must admit that it’s pretty great seeing him so full of life and wonder.

Chowing down on some comfort foods when I finally had the ambition to eat solids again.

I also attended bootcamp on Wednesday and Body Attack on Thursday. It kind of goes against my “working out while sick” rule of thumb and I was definitely only at about a 50% exertion. However, I needed to get moving in one way or another as I was feeling extremely stir crazy. Thomas and I also went on a few neighbourhood walks to get some necessary fresh air.

And lastly, I had a few FaceTime catch ups with friends and family, including some Happy Birthday singing from abroad.

It’s a big birthday year for my Dad. We tease him that he finally gets to collect his old age pension now and receive plenty of store/movie/restaurant discounts! Happy birthday to the most stand-up, selfless, forgiving, considerate, and compassionate person I know. That’s a bold statement, but anyone who knows my father couldn’t argue that he’s absolutely the best kind of person there is.

That’s all she wrote, folks. Due to this ridiculous fever turned head cold, I’ve been up since 3:15am, so I really think it’s about time I pop a Sudafed and hit the hay. Thanks for checking in! x

Any comfort-foods-when-I’m-sick suggestions? I’ve been heavy into the soups, and thinking about making a sweet potato and carrot one tomorrow.

  1. I hope you feel better soon! Being sick is definitely no fun! My comfort foods when I’m sick are soups and carbs like bread and pasta.

  2. Ugh, being sick is the worse, hope you get back to 100% soon! That onesie with the crab on the butt might be the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, where did you find that??

My mother in law picked it up at Carter’s! We are originally from the East Coast, so the little guy needs to show his roots :)

  3. Oh Kelly you poor thing! Rest up and remember that you need to take the time to let yourself get better!

As for comfort foods when sick, if I have the flu it’s usually smoothies, soups, oatmeal – anything soft! I actually find cold foods more soothing than hot ones as well!

  4. Aw, sorry to hear that you’re not well. And YES – those babies get into anything and everything…you think you baby-proof until they find the one thing you didn’t even think of! lol
My dad and I are very very close so I can totally relate to how you feel about your dad! :)
Comfort foods for me are def carby and/or hot – or a mix of the two! 😉 Hope you’re better soon!

  6. I do soup for breakfast, lunch, and dinner when I’m sick. So sorry you’ve been under the weather. I haven’t gotten sick since I had my baby (in June) but I know it will be hard to keep up with her and rest! Serious props to you Mama! Thank you for sharing! Feel better soon!

Thanks, Monet! It’s interesting being sick as a mother. I am definitely not as wimpy as I once was; you just kind of learn to grin and bear it.
