20 Things You Didn’t Know About Me: Vol. 1

Oh, why hello there!

You’re going to have to start calling me Houdini. Listen. I know. Sometimes I am all over this blogging thing, and other days/weeks I just have to throw in the towel. I have plenty of excuses for not writing consistently, but this week, sleep has trumped computer time.

I have several half-written and drafted posts just waiting to be cared for, but after finishing a late night workout, I just want to write unrestrictedly before I hit the hay for the evening. So, I thought I’d whip up my first ever “20 Things You {Probably} Didn’t Know About Me” post (unless your name is Adam, Mom, Dad, or Martha). read more

…And Then There Were Four

Last Thursday (October 30th), I was simply going about my day. Doctor’s appointment, cleaning/running errands, publishing a blog post, and going through the motions that come with being a current SAHM to a 20 month old. By mid-afternoon, we were both getting a little restless, so I decided to make a quick trip to the gym for a walk on the treadmill, some light stretching, and to let Thomas run around with the kids in the childcare centre for an hour. Little did I know, our average day was about to get a lot more exciting. read more

A Little Pregnancy Update

It’s a little late in the game, but I’ve been awa from blogging for a bit and haven’t written much (if anything) about how my current pregnancy with Bubs the II is going. I’m currently sitting pretty at 33.5 weeks. Well, more like ‘sitting uncomfortably’, if I’m to be accurate in my description. It’s not a particularly momentous milestone week, but I figure that I might as well reflect a bit while I have the chance. Hard to believe that I only have about 6 weeks left in this journey. I should probably get my act together and start thinking about packing a hospital bag at some point, but with this second pregnancy, I have become a bit a lot more relaxed in the whole “labour and newborn preparation” category. read more

When In Canada

Alright, you guys. Where is my Blogger of the Year nomination? Hah! I realize I’ve been MIA for months now when it comes to this little internet space, but I have good excuses, I swear!

Actually, I’ll just admit it. Sometimes in life, certain hobbies or pastimes have to give. In this case, blogging was one of them. I would never write and publish posts if I didn’t want to, or just for the sake of it…so I haven’t. read more

Your Own Worst Enemy: Letting Go Of Negative Body Image

This isn’t a long post, but an important one.

An acquaintance of mine recently posted a status update on social media: “I got up this morning, looked in the mirror, and truly hated what I saw looking back at me.”  This is a hard working, dedicated, intelligent, physically fit, beautiful person who is referring to the fact that she hates the signs of ageing she sees and the associated changes to her outward appearance. read more

May Favourites

After missing the mark on my April favourites due to limited ambition and health, I’m back in the saddle this month! Lots going on, and lots to look forward to in June as well. Here you have it:

Breakfast

Since I’ve still been feeling queasy, particularly first thing in the morning, breakfast has been a bit of a mundane ordeal. A couple slices of sourdough, Mayvers natural peanut butter, and some kind of fruit has literally been my go-to 6 out of 7 days of the week.  Basic, carby, not too heavy…everything my growing belly desires at 7am.  read more

Adventures in New Zealand: Part 2

It’s been four days since we’ve arrived home from New Zealand. We have a ‘bucket list’ of sorts for the things we want to do while living here in Australia, and visiting NZ has always been at the top.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time touring around the South Island. We would have loved to see the North as well, but with only 9 days, we simply couldn’t do it all. We also couldn’t participate in a lot of adventure activities as per the New Zealand travel norm. Just too difficult with a one year old! Instead, we clocked many hours in the car and several more hiking and touring around by foot; we saw so much in just over a week. read more

Over Coffee [11.03.14]

Let’s catch up over a cuppa, shall we

1. Cuppa? That’s the third Aussie-ism (technically British) I’ve used in the past 24 hours! Have I converted?

2. I have an adoration for pretty pottery and am loving my new coffee mug from Adam’s mom (pictured above)! It’s made in Poland but the print has a cute, Dutch feel. Makes warm beverages all the more exciting. read more
